I have no truck or trade with the political parties in India. From time to time I've supported various causes and movements in India that I thought might benefit the country. Even now India really lacks and desperately needs a broad based social and political movement for fundamental change. I would be prepared to participate in one that I felt was that movement. When I left India in 1964 I wasn't old enough to vote. Vis a vis India I am not a partisan. My interest is India, not power or who wields it as long it is used to benefit the country and its people. I wrote a regular on line column for the Indian Express for over two years, stopping several months ago. I have been blogging about Indian, Canadian and international issues on my blog sites: ujjaldosanjh.org and more recently commentindia.com
I've been thinking of briefly sharing my take on the Modi government's performance of the last four years. Too many words often confuse. Brevity is a virtue. Hence here briefly are the accomplishments of PM Modi's last four years:
Unemployment: Up
Inequality: Up
Wealth Gap Between the Rich and the Poor: Up
Communal Violence: Up
Religious Tensions: Up
Love Jihad: Up
Beef Jihad: Up
Killings of Rationalists and scholars: Up
Violence against Dalits: Up
Violence against journalists: Up
Political Rhetoric: Up--Sky High
Corruption (India slips on the corruption index): Up
Political gimmicks, unparalleled rhetorical flourishes, or unique acronyms do not a great country make. Country's future is made with the blood, sweat, grit, and honesty of its politicians; all that is sadly lacking in most of India's politicians.
